What Merva does today

Merva is a workspace for preparing shipment documents for review. It does not submit customs declarations or carry out clearance. Here is what it offers today, what it offers with limits, and what it does not offer.

Available

  • A workspace for each shipment

Upload a shipment's PDF documents into your organization's workspace. Members see only their own organization's shipments.

  • The source beside each value

Where Merva reads a value, it shows the document, page and printed text it came from, so your team can check it against the original.

  • Decisions on record

The shipment preparer verifies or enters each value; every decision is recorded with who made it, when and why, and the original readings are kept.

Available, with limits

  • Reading values from documents

Not verified yet. Merva reads some values, mainly header values such as invoice number, totals, weights and parties, from invoices, packing lists, bills of lading and SABER certificates. A value can be read wrongly or missed, and goods tables are not read reliably yet: check every value against the original.

  • Tariff data

Partial: only the codes in ZATCA's published amendment lists. A code Merva does not list is not invalid; the shipment preparer verifies it from an official source.

  • Scanned and Arabic-only documents

Read with more limits than text-based PDFs. A page Merva cannot read is marked as not read, never guessed, and the shipment preparer verifies or enters its values.

  • The preparation package (PDF), not verified

A draft summary of the shipment in Arabic or English, with your original documents attached unchanged. Values in it can be wrong or missing, and it carries no customs value: check it against the originals before relying on it.

  • Air waybills and certificates of origin

Accepted, but their values are not read yet.

Not offered

  • Finding differences between documents

Not offered reliably yet. Merva does not yet reliably find where documents disagree; your team checks them.

  • Customs valuation

Merva does not determine the customs value. It is recorded by the shipment preparer; Merva does not decide it.

  • Regulatory questions

Not answered. The shipment assistant answers questions about a shipment from its records in Merva only, and it is not a source of regulatory advice.

  • Classification decisions

Merva suggests HS codes; it does not classify goods. The shipment preparer confirms every code.

  • Submission, clearance and duties

Merva does not submit customs declarations, carry out clearance, calculate duties or give regulatory advice.

How your organization's documents are handled

  • Access limited to your organization

Members see only their own organization's shipments and documents; every request is checked against the signed-in member's organization.

  • The source beside each value read

Each value Merva reads links to its document, page and printed text where they were recorded.

  • Decisions on record

Decisions and changes are recorded with who made them, when and why, and the original readings are kept.

  • Features switched on per organization

Features still being evaluated stay off for customers until they are switched on for an organization.
